Hangzhou - Ningbo Train

Recently, China Railway announced that the ticket prices for Hangzhou - Ningbo High-Speed G Trains will be adjusted starting from June 15, 2024. The highest price will increase by 19.72% compared to previous rates, while the lowest ticket price will receive a discount of 55%.

Usually, more than 100 pairs of high speed trains run between Hangzhou East Railway Station and Ningbo Railway Station daily. The running distance is 154 - 159 kilometers (96 - 99 miles). Duration is 45 – 78 minutes. Passengers can make a quick trip between the two cities easily. Ticket fare for a second class seat is CNY 51 – 71. Besides, normal trains run for a distance of 165/ 171 kilometers (103/ 106 miles). Duration is 2 – 3.5 hours. A hard seat costs CNY 23.5 – 28.5 per person.

Stopovers along the way: Shaoxing, Shangyu, Yuyao
At one side, most of them are operated at Hangzhou Railway Station, while K8513, T135, K335 are operated at South Railway Station. At the other side, all of them use Ningbo Railway Station. For such a short-distance trip, passengers can just purchase a hard or soft seat if traveling by normal trains.

Hangzhou - Ningbo Train vs. Coach

Aside from trains, passengers can also travel by long-distance bus. Duration is about 2 hours and ticket fare is CNY70 per person. Passengers need to fasten the safety belt when traveling on a coach, while they can move around freely on a train.

Usually, it is advised to use high speed trains for this short trip. First, there is no much difference on the cost if choosing a second class seat which costs CNY 51 – 71. Second, duration for a high speed train trip is 45 – 78 minutes only. Third, more bullet trains are in service daily than long-distance buses. Most importantly, facilities on bullet trains are much better than that on long-distance buses.

Opening time of Hangzhou East Station

When will ticket counters open for ticket collection? We are holding passports for travel, so we can only use counters to exchange paper tickets. Thank you.

The ticket office should open around 4am to serve the first train departure, surely not all the offices or counters start working at same time. So if you did not find one at first offices, do not give up, try a second one.

How long it takes from Hangzhou Airport to East Railway Station?

By the way, is the bus from airport to Ningbo directly?

The airport shuttle bus takes around 30min on the way to Hangzhou East Station and bus runs around every 15 to 30min. There are also buses to Ningbo South Bus Station. The detailed schedule is not clear, seems from 9:50am to 21:20pm, around every 1 hour. It takes around 2 hours on the way. There is also bus to Zhoushan Shenjiamen, but seems very few buses a day.

I can only see bullet trains to Hangzhou East.

My hotel advise me to use Chenzan Station, but when I search online, it says there is no this station. Please kindly guide me, thank you!

I think your hotel refers to "Chengzhan" right? It is the nickname of Hangzhou Railway Station. However, for this route, if you want to use a bullet ride, you can only use East Station.

"There is no bus from the airport to Suzhou, you could take shuttle bus to Ningbo railway station, then take a high speed train from NIngbo to Suzhou.". Thank you for your above prompt reply to my question. Where can I take this shuttle bus, the cost and frequency and operating time of this shuttle bus. Thanks again.

The bus is available every half an hour and it only cost around CNY12 per ticket.

Is there any public bus running from Ningbo Lishe Internatonal airport to Suzhou

There is no bus from the airport to Suzhou, you could take shuttle bus to Ningbo railway station, then take a high speed train from NIngbo to Suzhou.
